In past Silver filling was the choice of material for decayed teeth. it has good strength and economic to patients but if its swallowed accidentally it causes mercury toxicity and its color is highly unaesthetic. To overcome this side effect we have tooth color filling which is less toxic to mercury and aesthetic problem is also solved.

Disadvantage of tooth color filling are expensive and less strength compare to silver filling.
